"In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy" William Blake

The Holiday is in full swing for many people, the lights are going up the Christmas parties are scheduled and the choirs are tuning up the carols.  We hope that the real reason for the season will become more and more true in your life this year.  Jesus left his Glory and perfection in heaven to come and rescue us, we have so much to celebrate and show the world how great his love is.

A few events to mark on your calendar.

Saturday December 7th, we'll be joining  up with friends at the Salvation Army to Adopt a Kettle for the Day at the North Sydney Sobey's.  The money taken in these kettles stays in the community to help our neighbors through the tough winter season.  You can sign up at church this Sunday for a time slot.

We'll be having another CB Screaming Eagles Chapel on December 10th.  Looking forward to sharing some good news about Jesus with the hockey team

The Cape Breton Christian School will be having there Christmas Concert also on December 10th.  This may be their last concert at Grace Fellowship as the building project at Balls Creek is coming along nicely.

There are plenty of opportunities this time of year to be the hands and feet of Jesus, invite your family and friends to one of the many concerts taking place, take some cookies to your neighbor, buy some groceries for a family you know is struggling financially, or hundreds of other small acts of kindness.  People were made to know the truth of a savior coming to make a way for us to know our Father in Heaven.  Use your time well this Christmas to share the love of Jesus, and watch the Christmas cheer grow!

"Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits"

Hello folks, summer is just about officially wrapped up, but do not despair, the fall looks promising!
Samuel Butler said, "Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits" Pray that we'll see a great harvest this fall!

There are several exciting things in the works for GFC and the church in Cape Breton.

The First weekend in October will be our Anniversary Celebration  Oct. 4-6th with a weekend packed full of fun, food, fellowship.
Friday will be a Youth Coffee House Fundraiser for Munroe Academy.
Saturday Evening is a Potluck Dinner starting at 6:00pm and Dave Sawler will be joining us as guest speaker.
Sunday Morning at 10:30 Dave Sawler will join us again.

There is a Retreat Weekend happening at Lighthouse on October 18th-20.  This will be a teaching, discussion and prayer weekend with several speakers and worship leaders, including Jonathan Strutt.

Gathering of Hope
The Sydney Mines Ministerial will host another Gathering of Hope In November 17th (location TBA).  This is an opportunity for the churches to gather an pray together for issues in our community.  Please plan on coming out as we see the body of Christ putting aside differences and embracing our commonalities, mainly that we have a great savior who is able to break through earthy boundaries in order to bring about God's Grace and Mercy to us.

Hot Fun in the Summer Time

Graduations and Proms are wrapping up, folks are heading to their cottages and digging out their camping gear, the tomato plants are in and the grass needs cut twice a week.  It must be summer again.

We have some great things happening in the month of July
There is a team here for the next week to do some work out at Balls Creek.  The Project is moving along nicely.  If you have any time to come out and help them get the place put together, they are hoping to move into the new facility in September but will need lots of help to get that done. Click the link below to find out about the school, the project and who to contact for further info.
There is another team who will be joining us for a few days throughout the month of July.  Rachel Colford, a member at Cape Breton Christian Fellowship, recently finished a  program at the International House of Prayer University in Kansas City.  She has been lead to assemble a team of her class mates to come to Cape Breton for the month of July to connect with churches in CBRM and support their ministries.  They'll be doing street ministry with kids and adults, teaching about prayer and evangelism, leading worship services and helping out in any other way they can with the churches in Cape Breton.  Please keep them in prayer as they go out to help bring the Kingdom of Heaven to hurting people.
This Sunday we will have the Peru mission team sharing about their most recent trip.  And later in the month we will have Wayne MacLeod sharing with us once again about his ministry and his recent trip to Pakistan.  We'll also have Ashley Morrison come and share about her experience serving with YWAM in the middle east over the last year.

Cape Breton Bible Camp is in full swing.  Staff are there now doing staff training with new directors Bob and Donna Sloma.  Please be in prayer for them as they take on this new challenge.  Ever year is different, every group of staff has there strengths and their challenges to work through, but God is always faithful to use those who give up their summer to serve the kids on this Island and spread the Good News.  Pray that he will empower each one from the directors down to the maintenance staff to the guest speakers.

On July 21st we'll join with CAPE BRETON CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP for a open air service at the North Sydney Boardwalk.  Pastor Rick will be sharing the word and the I.H.O.P. mission team will be leading music.  Please join us and invite a friend out to hear the gospel.

We'll also have Communion on July 7th, another "Meet the Grace Family" interview, a community BBQ... lots to get involved in, lots to be in prayer for, lots to give thanks for.

Be Blessed.

General Assembly and Life Direction Weekend

Hello everyone, I hope you are weathering the strange weather, snow, sun, wind, -14, +8... we must be in Cape Breton.

Coming up this Monday, Jan. 28th at 7:00 pm we will be having the Annual General Meeting at Grace.  Please come as we seek direction for our church for the future and talk about what has happened in the past year.  Let your encouragements, comments and request be heard.  Galatians 6:2, carry each other's burdens and fulfill the law of Christ.  Let's join together to see how we fit into this puzzle of how to run a church together as the family of God.

Please consider coming to this year's Life Direction Weekend.  As in the past this weekend conference is aimed at encouraging young adults, but this year we will be broader in our scope as there will be discussions on a recent study done in Canada called Hemorrhaging Faith.  If you are concerned with the exodus of young adults from many churches, there will be two discussion sessions lead by Pastor David Sawler on why this trend is happening, where they are going and how the church can respond.  The keynote speaker this year is Ian Green.  Ian has spent more than two decades of his life finding and creating innovative paths for the people of Europe to receive love, hope and a future through Jesus Christ. His relentless passion has seen over 130 churches planted and 7000 leaders systematically trained.  We have lots to learn from him.  Click the poster on the right to register.  Go to the Facebook page for updates and schedule.

Please talk to one of the council leaders if the lord has put on your heart a specific small group/ leadership teams where he wants you to serve.
Council Leaders are:
Dave McKenna:
Lloyd Johnston
Winston MacEachern
Doug Beane
Bibiana MacLeod
Joe Cook
