Enesemble Morning and Evening Communion

Tomorrow morning we will have the Ensemble leading worship and our final message and discussion groups focused on Dave Sawler's book The Disciple: God's Blueprint.  I hope you've been blessed and challenged by this past month.  Also we have a team from Absolute staying with us for the next four days.  They'll be doing a presentation for the students at T.L. Sullivan Jr. High on Monday so please take the opportunity to talk with them and get to know what they're team does.  Also, pray that God will speak strongly to the students on Monday when they go to share some of their life stories with the teens.  If anyone wants to help out by making a meal or donating some food for the team, I'm sure they would be very thankful.  Check out their website to see what they're all about.

In the evening service we will be having open communion.

!!!Don't forget, we've pushed the lunch after church to next week when we do officer inductions!!!

Be Blessed.

Pizza Party Changed

Hey everyone, we were planning on having pizza after the sunday service this coming Sunday, we are bumping that ahead a week to Sunday March 6th.  Please feel free to bring whatever kind of dish you want to go along with the pizza.  For that Sunday, because we are having New Officer inductions the service will look a little different.  We'll take a break for a week from the small group discussions after the message.  Jesus had some of his best teaching and discussions around food so hopefully we can do the same.

"Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.  All the believers were together and had everything in common.  Selling thier possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.  Every day they continued to meet together in teh temple courts.  They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoing the favor of all the people.  And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."  Acts 2: 42-47.

Let's start with the eating together with glad and sincere hearts and see if we can get all that other good stuff to happen too!

Sydney Mines Gathering of Hope

We're joining together tonight with the other churches of Sydney Mines as we pray together for our community.  Tonight at 7:00pm at St. Andrews we will have guest speaker David Sawler sharing his vision on how to reach our communities.  Our focus tonight will be prayer that God will revitalize the churches in our community to have an outward vision of reaching people with the Gospel, both new people who have never been to church and also those who have fallen away from the church.
Please feel free to bring some snacks for the fellowship time after the prayer time.

CB Prayer 24/7

The Prayer room is available for anyone to use 24 hours a day.  But to be sure no one else is using it when you wish to be there, please register on line or call Gemma or Joey.  Gemma has been in contact with 24/7 Canada and they are very excited that we have created a dedicated space for people to go and pray.  They have prayer rooms all across the country and have been praying that the Lord would raise up a place on the east coast.  They seem more excited than we do in fact to have this place and hope to come visit the us to see what the Lord is doing here!  So I hope people will take advantage of it, not that we think you need to go there for the Lord to hear you, but it's there if you need a quiet place away from the business of life that sometimes gets in the way of time with the Lord.

Last week our church made some changes to our Sunday morning service.  Some people were feeling disengaged with church being largely a spectator type service and not having much space to use the gifts God has given them.  We felt lead by the spirit to change our service to incorporate small group discussion after the morning message.  Our service has moved back a 1/2 hour to 10:00 am to give a bit more time.  These groups are providing a venue for people in our church who want to go deeper in their faith, have a role in the church and share what they have learned at bible school and on missions trips.  We hope that this will give people, especially the youth and young adults a greater investment in the church as they feel more a part of the community.  We also hope that it will help us better develop disciples that make a difference to send out into our community.
For the first month of this new format we are going through Dave Sawler's book, The Disciple: God's Blueprint.  It looks at Jesus as the model for our own discipling of other and how that fits in our own lives.  The first week has already been very challenging for many in our congregation and the small groups gave great opportunity for people to share what God had stirred up in them during the message.  Pastor Rick is taking what he is learning from Sawler and applying to our own church context.  This week we will go deeper into what it is to be a disciple maker.  I hope you can join us.
Be Blessed,
