There are twinkly lights and giant inflatable Santas everywhere, I guess that means the Christmas season is upon us. So with all the Christmas Shopping and chaos we'd love to show people that Christmas is still about Jesus.
On December 6th the Cape Breton Christian School will be presenting it's annual Christmas program. Come and support the students as they perform songs and a play to get us in the Christmas spirit.
On December 10th we'll be have a Christmas potluck. This is a great chance to invite some people out to hang out with our church family and hear the gospel. Bring some food, bring a friend, enjoy the Christmas Spirit.
Also, on December 18th we will be having "Orphan Sunday". This morning will be focused on informing us about the plight of orphans around the world. We will spend time in prayer and learn what we can do to help. If we follow Jesus, it our privilege and responsibility to care for those who've been orphaned or abandoned. Come ready to have your heart moved and be changed to realize how much we have and what each of us can do to serve the poorest of the poor.
We'll also have a Christmas Eve Service with a special guest speaker and a service on Christmas morning.
We hope Jesus becomes more real to you this Christmas season because that's what it's all about!

This Sunday we will be starting a new series of Freedom from Fear. We all face fear in our lives that come from different sources but the bible is full of hope not fear. Jesus tells us not to fear and not to worry because he is for us, and if he is for us who could stand against us. Over the next 4 weeks we'll look at what scripture says about overcoming fear through the power of Jesus in us. After the morning message and a coffee break we'll go into discussion groups and dig deeper into how we can be free from fear. Revelation 12:11 says,"they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death." Studies show that peoples greatest fear is public speaking - death is second- so together with Jesus and one and other we can get over fear and take the power and freedom of Christ in the world. Max Lucado has written a new book call Fearless: Imagine Your Life without Fear. While this month will not be a focused book study, you may find what Lucado has written as we go through the series. Click on the book for more info or to buy it online
On Friday November 11 there will be a coffee house at the Grace to raise money for world vision. Come out and support the Interact Group from Memorial High School as they endeavor to help ease poverty and hunger around the world.
Please be in pray this week as we begin the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles chapels again. We'll go on Tuesday to meet the team and talk about what we'll be doing this year with them. There are quite a few new players this year and we have a very unique opportunity to share the gospel with these young men, many of whom are away from their family and friends and are faced with the temptations that being a semi-pro athlete brings. Pray for Grace and wisdom for us as we go to share Jesus love and freedom.
